Telogis GeoBase 3.8 now available
Telogis GeoBase 3.8, the latest release of the geospatial mapping software used by thousands of developers around the world for location-based application development, is now available for download.
This release makes it even easier for enterprises to add location intelligence across the entire business quickly. It continues Telogis’ focus on reducing development time and offering advanced features that can’t be found elsewhere. Speed, scalability and ease-of use remain the top design goals of the Telogis GeoBase platform as Telogis adds exciting new features and support for modern programming standards.
WPF map control – Version 3.8 includes a new WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) map control and improvements to the JavaScript API that take advantage of powerful HTML5 features.
Spatial indexing (new HillbertIndex class) for 3rd party databases – Telogis has taken note of an increasing trend among enterprise developers who want to integrate geospatial data stored in legacy databases or in the cloud and has responded by providing tools that enable them to leverage that data from within their Telogis GeoBase applications. Examples of this include an elegant and fast way to spatially index and query data in third-party relational databases, such as Oracle.
Web Map Service (WMS) compatible – Developers can now easily add WMS layers to their application from a wide range of providers including NASA, TerraServer and OpenStreetMap. To speed up delivery for users it is recommended that the new satellite imagery cache be pre-seeded before the new GeoStream server goes live.
New language packs – Since Telogis GeoBase is used by some of the world’s largest supply chain management companies, Telogis development looks for ways to make global deployments easier, such as adding new language packs. Language packs with Version 3.8 include Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Italian and Spanish. Other language packs have been upgraded to provide multi-lingual turn-by-turn voice directions.
Clearer satellite view – The default map style in Telogis GeoBase has been updated to make viewing satellite imagery clearer, and with less interference from street data.
Rest stops – Route optimization capabilities in the latest release include new rest (or break) stops enabling route planners to include a specified employee break during a given time window.
Other enhancements include an improved map style for navigation, smarter reverse geocoding, numerous navigation related enhancements and simpler access for proxy connections.
